Unknown Rodefer Glass Company Item

Feb 17, 2025 | Museum Monday Treasures

Last week’s Museum Monday treasure from the Museum of American Glass in WV was a letter from the Rodefer Glass Company. As mentioned in that write-up, although Rodefer was in existence for the better part of a century, the company is scarcely known today, because they relied almost exclusively on private mould work. This week’s treasure is an example of one of those products. We have no idea what it is! It is round with a notched edge, about 2.25” in diameter, and embossed “Aristocrat.” It is one of a myriad of odd items acquired by Tom Fuhrman at the Rodefer auction after the company closed that we ended up cataloging as unknown objects. Do any of you recognize it? If so, please contact us and let us know.

UPDATE. This is a replica in glass of a locking radiator cap, probably produced as an advertising giveaway. Thank you to our alert readers who recognized this piece.
