Petru Rusu Paperweight

Jan 22, 2024 | Museum Monday Treasures

Today’s Museum Monday treasure from the Museum of American Glass in WV is a paperweight made by Petru Rusu in 1988. It has a delicate lavender-white three petaled flower with green stem cased in clear with small air trap bubbles between the petals and in the center. It is signed: “1988 Rusu.” Although Petru Rusu was making some paperweights at this time for Glass Eye Studio, they say that his weights for them would not have been signed anything other than “GES” (or possibly “PR/GES”), so this was probably made on his own. It is approximately 3” x 3”.
