1905 Happy New Year Postcard

Jan 2, 2023 | Museum Monday Treasures

Today’s Museum Monday treasure from the Museum of American Glass in WV is a postcard wishing you “A Happy New Year.” It is postmarked December 29, 1905, and features a photograph of a cut glass rose bowl with flowers. It is part of the Rotograph series. The Rotograph Company in New York was the American branch of the German company Neue Photographische Gesellschaft, known for their high quality photographic products, and operated from 1904 to 1911. This is one of five postcards in our collection, all utilizing rich American cut glass vases to offer wishes for “A Happy Birthday” or, simply, “Congratulations.”
